The perfect book for your business Here’s the thing about this book. I bought it thinking it’ll help out a bit with my small business. I’ve been selling paintings online for a couple years and wanted to focus on growing my business and social media presence. I discovered Ilana on insta and thought this book would be a helpful tool in pursuing my business goals. Let me tell ya: This book has far exceeded my expectations in that it discusses basically EVERYTHING that I’ve ever had questions about. This includes taxes, pricing, brainstorming, workload, contracts, SEO, branding, and even mental health. It’s an incredible resource for definitions and further inspiration with your ongoing/future business. To anyone unsure if this would be a helpful book to them or not— it will!Beautiful and a wealth of knowledge I love this book! Not only is it beautifully designed, it's a wealth of knowledge that I wish I had years ago when I was first starting my business. I am not new to owning my biz, but I'm still finding this book immensely helpful in bringing clarity to my vision of the future of my company. I highly recommend this to all the boss babes out there.Easy to use I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book when I purchased it. However, it’s better than I thought it would be. The content is easy to navigate, it’s interactive and it’s broken down in relatable concepts. Some of the sections are a bit redundant across the chapters (such as goals and where would you like your business to be over a period of time). But they’re concepts that should be in the back of any business owner’s mind anyway. One of the best parts about this workbook are the resource section in the back and it’s focus on mental health. Most importantly, the book doesn’t act as a “one size fits all”, it works with you.

Without Conscience Free Pdf

ISBN: 1572304510
Title: Without Conscience Pdf The Disturbing World of the Psychopaths Among Us
Author: Robert D. Hare
Published Date: 1999-01-08
Page: 236

A brilliant, in-depth handling of a most complex subject (Hugh Aynesworth, author of Ted Bundy: Conversations with a Killer).

Most people are both repelled and intrigued by the images of cold-blooded, conscienceless murderers that increasingly populate our movies, television programs, and newspaper headlines. With their flagrant criminal violation of society's rules, serial killers like Ted Bundy and John Wayne Gacy are among the most dramatic examples of the psychopath. Individuals with this personality disorder are fully aware of the consequences of their actions and know the difference between right and wrong, yet they are terrifyingly self-centered, remorseless, and unable to care about the feelings of others. Perhaps most frightening, they often seem completely normal to unsuspecting targets--and they do not always ply their trade by killing. Presenting a compelling portrait of these dangerous men and women based on 25 years of distinguished scientific research, Dr. Robert D. Hare vividly describes a world of con artists, hustlers, rapists, and other predators who charm, lie, and manipulate their way through life. Are psychopaths mad, or simply bad? How can they be recognized? And how can we protect ourselves? This book provides solid information and surprising insights for anyone seeking to understand this devastating condition.

Harrowing Psychopathy seems like something remote and distant, the stuff of over-the-top movie villains until you actually encounter one of these individuals. Hare's excellent book is the definitive work on psychopathy. His decades-long career, research and insight are fascinating. His work as a psychologist in the penal system has given him firsthand knowledge of this dark element of society. Perhaps most disturbing though, is the reality that psychopaths do walk among us "posing" as ordinary people in all walks of life, but wired much differently. Hare's book illustrates that we may not truly know some of the people in our lives as well as we think, but that there are warning signs and behaviors that these people display that we can watch out for and hopefully avoid. Hare explores the "nature vs. nurture" debate, and admits that treatment for these individuals may have limited success. Most sobering, is Hare's assertion that psychopathy is increasing in society. This is a quick read, filled with valuable information. Recommended.Informative, Albeit Disturbing Read. Would Love a 2018 Version! Imagine waking up one day without the usual anxieties of aligning to social mores and laws. The past and future consequences of a risky endeavor seem insignificant. All that seems to matter is your set of personal desires, regardless of what others want. Expressions of emotion and empathy seem foreign, but you imitate them by watching movies. You "know the words, but not the music." You believe that others are either pawns to be played for your own gain, and/or others are seeking to con you. You may continuously violate social norms and laws to obtain what you want (e.g. embezzelment) and not feel remorse for your actions. This is an extreme example of what it is "like" to be a psychopath, according to Without Conscience. Mind you, this is a very vague example. Armchair diagnoses of psychopathy are unethical and impossible for non-clinicians, even after reading this book.Robert D. Hare's "Without Conscience" is a chilling book. In his practice and research, he has developed the Psychopathy Checklist-- a tool that is reliable and valid with proper usage. Without Conscience argues that both genetics and environment play a role in the expression of psychopathy, but psychopaths are not created by poor parenting alone. However, a less violent environment will tend to produce less violent expressions of social deviance in psychopaths. Hare explores neuroscientific explanations for psychopathy, but answers from the literature (as of the latest edition of Without Conscience) are still not entirely clear. He argues that there is not necessarily frontal lobe damage in psychopaths, but there is absolutely a deficiency in prefrontal cortex functions in psychopaths (e.g. empathy, executive functioning, judgment, and planning). Further, there may be a link between decreased lateralization of verbal centers in the brain and psychopathy (more effort for the two lobes to communicate in two hemispheres versus one). This hypothesis of decreased brain lateralization may explain the disjointed, confabulated stories from psychopaths that only seem to make sense when the listener is "taken" with superficial charm and emoting (with exaggerated hand and facial expressions). These "nature AND nurture" theories make sense, as genetics and other biological factors can play a strong role in the development of DSM conditions. Think about individuals who have experienced hardship yet manage not to lash out at others as a result. I feel conflicted regarding use of the term "psychopathy," but Hare asserts it is more serious than a diagnosis of Antisocial Personality Disorder. This book was written in the 90s and was based on the DSM-IV, yet still seems relevant today. Now that it is 2018 and the DSM has been revised to a fifth edition, I would love for Hare to update this book. Imagine potential sections on internet culture, more recent literature reviews on neuroscience, and further analysis of psychopath vs. non-psychopath crime statistics from Canada and the U.S. I do wonder how often the Psychopathy Checklist is used today, and if research still supports its validity and reliability. It seems like a valuable tool that should be used in many therapeutic settings (not just forensic). As someone in the mental health field, I am truly reluctant to label individuals with such serious diagnoses. Today, clinicians are advised to diagnose personality disorders ONLY after extensive, specialized testing and a long period of time. Hare advocates for the diagnosis of psychopathy to protect potential victims, help make short-term changes in destructive individuals via specialized programs/early intervention, and remove blame from confused/frustrated/victimized spouses, parents, business partners, etc.It is important to note that individuals sensitive to strong content may want to skip over some sections. A few anecdotes on violent individuals are quite disturbing/graphic. Both men and women can do the unthinkable. Prognosis for psychopathy is poor as of this latest edition. Hare advises parents with minor children (suspected of psychopathy) to try their best with specialists. With other potential psychopaths, Hare recommends walking away, self-protective measures and damage control. As an aside, I will note that this book pairs well with other works on psychology (Why Does He DO That? By Lundy Bancroft, The Verbally Abusive Relationship by Patricia Evans, George K. Simon's work, Tracy Schorn's book/Chump Lady blog, resources from the Domestic Violence Hotline, and more). One does not have to be a psychopath to treat others poorly. Regardless of diagnoses, victims of such treatment are not to blame. If you suspect someone in your life is not treating you with the respect you deserve, you do not have to set yourself on fire to keep the person warm. Someone can do violent, mean, terrible things (maybe not to the degrees described in this book), yet still be in great psychological pain. Those who want help will often seek help.

IT'S ALL IN YOUR HEAD Pdf

ISBN: 0062962434
Title: IT'S ALL IN YOUR HEAD Pdf
Author: Russ
Published Date: 2019-11-12
Page: 160

Russ is a 27-year-old multi-platinum rapper, songwriter, and producer. He initially rose to fame by releasing a song a week independently for two years. His debut album, There’s Really a Wolf, was certified Platinum in 2018 with 15 million singles sold, and was recognized on the 2018 Forbes Hip-Hop Cash Kings list. Russ now headlines sold-out arenas around the world, and his songs have surpassed 4 billion + streams worldwide.

An inspirational book by self-made musical superstar, Russ, reminding you that it starts with YOU, to believe in yourself, and to get out of your own way.

Twenty-seven-year-old rapper, songwriter, and producer Russ walks his own path, at his own pace. By doing so, he proved that he didn’t need a major label to surpass over a billion streams on Spotify/Apple Music, get on Forbes’ 2019 “30 Under 30,” make the Forbes‘ “30 Under 30 Cash Kings” at number 20 for most earned, sell out arenas across the U.S. and around the globe, and become one of the most popular and engaged rappers right now. His method was simple: love and believe in yourself absolutely and work hard no matter what. In this memoir, Russ inspires readers to walk to their individual rhythms and beat their biggest obstacles: themselves.

With chapters named after his most powerful and popular songs, IT'S ALL IN YOUR HEAD will reflect on the lessons he’s learned from his career, family, and relationships. He’ll push readers to bet on themselves, take those leaps of faith, and recognize struggles as opportunities. With illustrations throughout consistent with the brand Russ has built and his fan base loves, IT'S ALL IN YOUR HEAD will give readers an inside-look at the man and the motivation behind the music. A lover of books like The Alchemist and The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, Russ delivers a short, potent, inspirational, raw, and honest book that gives readers a way to find self-belief and unlock their potential. Fans already rely on Russ as an inspiration of confidence; now, he is taking it to the next level with this book, which will contain lyrics from his music and visuals that reflect his inimitable style.

It really is all in your head. Timeless wisdom in a short, simple book. I love how he incorporates his personal stories from his life and music journey into the book. He is telling principles of success that I've read in a lot of Success Classics like Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill and I Will by Ben Sweetland. He talks about the power of Self-Belief and Self-Faith, despite all obstacles or contrary evidence. He talks about the power of being delusional - believing in yourself and potential regardless of what outside circumstances say. He talks about working in silence, the power of your thoughts and your words. He cautious against putting off dreams into the future, but urges us to live them in the present. He states that we shouldn't speak about success in the future tense, "I am going to be successful," is a mistake. We must say that "I AM successful NOW." He is a true inspiration and I'm grateful for his little book!Quick but great read! I get my hard copy tomorrow but finished the book through audible. I think I preferred that way with his narration even though I don't listen to audio books often.I loved this book and getting to take a look into his mindset and how he got to be where he is today. He has such a positive and chill outlook on life and that resonates through this music as well.Great and quick read!Truly an inspiring book, Shatters Expectations. Wasn't sure what to think before reading, but wow, Russ' mindset that he teaches in this book is game changing. Pretty short read, but a great one!

It's that good. She's that good."―John Scalzi, Wall Street Journal on The Stone Sky"[N. K. Painful and powerful."―Kirkus (starred review) on The Stone Sky"Vivid characters, a tautly constructed plot, and outstanding worldbuilding meld into an impressive and timely story of abused, grieving survivors fighting to fix themselves and save the remnants of their shattered home."―Publishers Weekly (starred review) on The Stone Sky"The depth and breadth of Jemisin's achievement with this trilogy is geologic. She is a science fiction and fantasy reviewer for the New York Times, and you can find her online at nkjemisin.com.

This collectable boxed set edition includes all three books in N. K. Jemisin's incredible NYT bestselling and three-time Hugo award-winning Broken Earth Trilogy.

This complete collection would be a great gift for any occasion and includes The Fifth Season, The Obelisk Gate, and The Stone Sky.

This is the way the world ends for the last time...

A season of endings has begun. It starts with the great red rift across the heart of the world's sole continent, spewing ash that blots out the sun. It starts with death, with a murdered son and a missing daughter. It starts with betrayal, and long dormant wounds rising up to fester.

This is the Stillness, a land long familiar with catastrophe, where the power of the earth is wielded as a weapon. And where there is no mercy.

The Broken Earth trilogy
The Fifth Season
The Obelisk Gate
The Stone Sky

I may not get to the third book The first novel was brilliant, a tour de force of world-making. True, the second-person pronouns confused me but as the three narratives converged toward the end it all made sense. Now I find this convention tiring in the extreme.... and confusing. She killed Alabaster? I didn't pick that up. Essun is 'you' and Syenite is 'she'? The characters are often vibrant but I lose track of who is who.And maybe there's a bit of shark-jumping in the Obelisk Gate as 'magic' is introduced, the 'silver', inconsistent powers that are all over the map, murders that get breezed over. It all has become a bit much for me.Even better than expected. I saw so much hype about these books that I wondered how it could possibly live up to the accolades? But it was even better than I had hoped. Jemisin's world-building is meticulous; The Stillness is sufficiently earth-like to be easily imagined yet different enough to engage one's imagination. And the books are still very much character-driven. One comparison to the Broken Earth Trilogy would be the movie Cloud Atlas-- a story where characters' lives inter-twine across multiple time frames. This is intelligent fiction, where multiple hero's journeys combine with gradually unfolding unveiling of mysteries. Reading the whole trilogy is almost akin to growing up; the reader sees the same subjects but understands them more as the tales progress. Another comparison would be the complexity of the Fire and Ice series (AKA Game of Thrones) but with layers of complexity exploring privilege and prejudice. Topics of racism, gender, and class divisions are explored in a thorough and complex manner: exploring not just how people hate, but why they do so. On top of all those layers add themes of ecology and (not kidding) geology. Somehow, this all comes together as a page turner. And finally, IMO, the ending was perfect. Conclusions are the hardest part of fiction writing so I've been repeatedly disappointed reading novels that don't end as well as the rest of the book. But on this whole trilogy, Jemisin scores a touchdown at the end. There is going to be a film adaptation, and I'm a bit concerned that nothing cinematic can live up to the incredible experience of 'seeing' the Broken Earth books in my imagination.I don't like it. This series received a ton of great reveiws and awards. I ordered with anticipation of a great read. Fifteen pages in the narration switches to second person.I don't care for second person. I find it annoying. $25 wasted.Maybe I'll give it a shot someday, but I've got enough things to do and too many things I can't control that I find annoying. There's no reason to invite another pain to the party.
