Humorous, Heartfelt and Unexpected It’s anything but love at first sight between Elle and Nix. Hate at first sight would be more accurate. He may be the big man on campus, but Elle has no problem calling the cops when one of Nix's parties gets out of hand. Now Nix needs to clean up his image and do some volunteering in the community. Can you guess who his boss is? Yep, it's Elle. But as they work together, they both begin to see they might have misjudged each other, and that’s when things get interesting.The tension between these two is delightfully delicious, their banter wildly entertaining, and their chemistry is explosive. If I know ahead of time a book is new adult I often pass on it, fearing the characters will be annoying in their immaturity. These skillfully written characters, however, make me think I just might be missing out on some great writing. Both have far more layers and depth than seen at first glance and a vulnerability that humanizes them and endears them to the reader.The secondary characters are equally entertaining and unique, with a smooth, moving pace to the story so that this one practically reads itself and has me eager for more from this Fulton U bunch I’ve grown attached to. If you like a story that makes you laugh, takes your emotions on a wild ride and has you believing in happily ever afters, you'll love Nix and Elle's story!Elle hates liars and cheats. Nix hasn’t been completely honest with her. Hmmm… I have waited for this book just b/c of the blurb! After seeing Nix nude, how would Elle react? Not so well apparently. Elle has been feuding with Nix from that day. She’s strung out b/c she has so many obligations, monetary and otherwise. I would like to have known a little more about how she came down from upper-middle class (formerly drove an S-Class Mercedes in HS) to borderline destitute.Phoenix Russo, seemingly cocky football quarterback and in the words of Elle, “kind of gorgeous that made you wonder if he weren’t real-life CGI.” What Elle doesn’t know is that Nix has his demons too. When Elle and Nix end up on the same project, things begin to change. WOW! Just WOW. Love the metamorphosis.Ms. Hughes can write some of the sweetest steamy scenes ever written. There is humor, angst and tear-inducing moments, all of which finishes with a beautiful HEA. I have bookmarked so many scenes in this book it looks like a rainbow ;-)I volunteered to review an ARC and it comes highly recommended. This one gets 10 Stars! I want to see the movie. I CAN’T wait for Berk and Jules’ story!!!Hate Has Never Been So HOT!!! Football hottie with a sweet side...YES PLEASE! This guy doesn't fumble. He's in it to WIN her heart!!! A sexy and fun enemies-to-lovers college romance.The college QB is her annoying neighbor. Nix lives across the street. Partying is all he cares about. Loud nights with constant noise brings Elle nothing but grief. She just wants him to go away! She even has the cops on speed dial.Nix has gotten himself into a bit of trouble. His goal is to get drafted by the NFL, but he needs to clean up his image. A little volunteer work should do the trick. Little did he know he's going to be spending some one-on-one time with his pink-haired nemesis.She wants nothing to do with him, until they are forced to spend time together over spring break. She never expected to see Nix volunteering. Everything she thought she knew is about to go up in smoke after being forced to work together and establish a truce, he just became the guy she can't stop thinking about!This story was more than just a college romance. It is a story of self-discovery. Coming to terms with things about yourself you may not like and working to overcome them. Facing a future that has been laid out for you, even when you are questioning your path. I enjoyed the main characters and I cannot wait for more of the series. Loved it!
